Mary Kathleen Burns Ditmire, “Kathy” was a local artist, elementary teacher, and well loved member of the Logansport Community. Kathy enjoyed her many friends, dancing, traveling and beaches. She also loved all types of art and made pieces for her family and dear friends… just out of love, to honor them, or a special event in their lives…she was also a past president of the Logansport Art Association. You could find friends of Kathy’s all around town, but at 4.pm each day, you would find her in her nightgown, with a glass of wine, grading papers for the students she dearly loved, and “wine”ing down! This show is for the amateurs, those who do not make a living selling their work, but simply pour their hearts into each piece, just because it fills their soul! Fee:

Adult: $30 non-members total, regardless of the number of entries, maximum of three entries

LAA Members entry fee is $20 total, regardless of # of entries, max of 3 entries

Youth 5-18: $10, which will include a youth membership and up to 3  entries

Eligibility:

• Participation is open to Amateurs in two divisions: youth-ages 5-16  and Adults.

Amateur is defined as anyone not making a living in the art field. This is not the same as paid art show winners. 

• All entries must be the original “fine art” work of the entering artist; Photography, sculpture and crafts are not included in this show. We are primarily looking for things you are passionate about in the categories of drawing and painting. Painting can include: acrylic, watercolor, or oil. Drawing can include: pen and ink, pastel, charcoal or colored pencil drawings. If in question, please ask, as there may be mediums we have not considered.  

Rules:

• Each artist is allowed a maximum of three entries.
• All adult entries must be framed with a wire hanger on the back. Finished or wrapped canvas is acceptable. Youth division may be framed or matted.
• All oils must be dry.
• Pieces may not exceed 48 inches, including the frame.
• Entries will only be accepted on receiving dates from the artist or their agent(s), or by appt,

Agreements:

• All art submitted must hang for the duration of the show; even if sold.
• The Logansport Art Association is not responsible for theft, loss or damage to any piece of work.
• If a work is sold while on display, the LAA receives a 10% commission.
• The LAA reserves the right to refuse any offensive or demeaning work.
• Any work left 30 days after the release of entries, becomes the property of the LAA.
• All work entered is subjected to being photographed, either directly or as a part of the background.
• By entering your work, you allow the LAA to use photos of your work to promote programming, both in print and on the web.

Awards: Qualified judges, whose decisions are final, determine all awards. There will be 1-Best of Show, and 1-Judges’ Award. 1st, 2nd, 3rd Place, Honorable Mention will be awarded in both divisions. Special Awards: 1 Kathy Ditmire Award will be presented each year, and the People’s Choice Award (determined by submitted votes) will be announced at the conclusion of the show.

Classes: Professional (1) -Open to all artists who have a degree in art and/or teach art classes for compensation, have a studio, have previously won first place in the amateur class or have had work accepted in a juried show. Those entering this class are not eligible to enter in Class 2. Amateur (2) – Open to artists not eligible to enter in Class 1. Must be original work by the artist.

THEME: Transportation Each piece must contain some type of transportation-planes, trains, automobiles, bicycles etc.

PUBLIC VIEWING:  Sept. 5- 28th during open gallery business hours

Cost: Free for members, $10 per entry for non-members, up to 3 entries per person

Reception and release: Thursday, Sept 29th  5:30pm-7 pm

Rules & guidelines:

1. Works can be entered in any combination of categories.
2. Categories include, but are not limited to: drawing, painting, photography, sculpture, other by permission.
3. All entries must be hand crafted or owned by the exhibitor.
4. All entries must be tagged and inventoried by the exhibitor.
5. All items will be released after the reception, or by special arrangement. Items left more than 30 days will become the property of the Logansport Art Association.
