We at the Logansport Art association are preparing for a brand new show in May 2022! We are inviting Amateur artists to bring in their work for display and the chance to win prize money, as well as place 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place ribbons! We also have a Best of Show award, a People’s Choice award (voted on by the public) and the most important of all, the Kathy Ditmire Award, in honor of the show’s name sake! This show is for anyone aged 16 and up. You will be able to enter and compete in the categories of painting, (anything that has paint of any type), Drawing, or Mixed Media (pieces that combine 2 or more mediums like paint and marker, or pastels and paint, etc.) This show is not for those who are already considered professionals. This show is for those who create art just because they enjoy it. Kathy was a beloved teacher in our schools, a board member here at the LAA, and a good friend. She did art for her  family and friends, and for herself! Just to enjoy the beauty! Just to share a smile! That’s what we are looking for in our inaugural “Wne Down” show… a breath of fresh air, a piece of your heart! Won’t you please consider joining us in nurturing each other’s souls and honoring my good friend, Kathy Ditmire?  For those of you included in this email who are already accomplished artists and not considered amateurs anymore, won’t you please come and support us at the reception on June 9th between 5:30 and 7:00pm? This is going to be a big one, and one near and dear to my heart!

LoLa Artist Avenue Call for Artists 2021-Deadline to enter Sept 30
Scope of the project :
The Committee seeks to host the installation of public art projects which will remain on exhibit for a period of 1 year. Projects hosted may entail various visual mediums. Proposals for the public outdoor artwork will be juried in by the Artist Avenue Steering Committee. The theme for this year’s exhibit is HOME. Artists are asked to conceptualize this one word theme in their work. Selected artists will have their work displayed with their name, title of work, medium, country of origin, and a small flag. The goal is to display the many different cultures and heritages that make up our wonderful community. Whether you are of German, Italian, Hispanic, etc heritage, we want to see your work that represents your “roots”. Each display will also include a QR code that will bring a short interview with the artist. At this time, the Committee will be accepting mural proposals that will satisfy the following openings:
——Artists may be selected to receive one 4’ x 8’ aluminum art panel. Artists may choose to fill the entire panel or part of the panel but the entire panel must remain intact. Artists must include a sketch of their proposed concept and at least two images of previous work.
Panels will then be attached directly to the side of the Gray Mill building on the 5th street side.
—– The artwork remains the property of the artist and may be sold throughout the year long exhibit. All unsold artwork will be sold at auction in September 2022 unless otherwise specified by the artist. All monies will go to the artist minus a 20% commission fee that will go back into the Artist Avenue fund to purchase more art panels and enhance the Artist Avenue.
—– Artists are responsible for providing their own medium for creating their artwork. It is also recommended that artists seal their artwork with at least 2 or more coats of a clear coat of their choosing.
——- Artists are responsible for loading and transport of their panel to and from their studio/workspace. Please make sure to take care to keep your artwork and panel safe. Panels are large so a truck or trailer is ideal for transporting the panels.
——If the Gray Mill staff assists in loading, unloading, or they provide blankets or packaging material for protection of the work the artist will be charged.
——Artists must submit a sketch of their work for the exhibit as well as two images of previous work.
Site: The avenue is located on the west side of the Gray Mill 500 East Broadway, Logansport, IN and the East side of Bonus Pints and the Record Farm 430 East Broadway, Logansport, IN. Artists are encouraged to visit the site if possible to visualize their ideas.
—— Proposals with applications must be received by Sept. 30, 2021 by 5:00pm for the new exhibit opening December 4. Delivery and installation of artwork will be November 29 and 30. Selected applicants will be notified of their acceptance no later than October 6. Panels must be picked up by the artist at the Gray Mill during their regular business hours the week of October 11- 15.
